Yola Come Hungry Leave Happy

Shelton Welcomes Authentic Lebanese Food
From Yola unites the joys of traditional Lebanese food in celebration of our connectedness to each other and to life itself. The café in downtown Shelton showcases classic recipes from the Assi family. Food is prepared fresh every day without additives, colorings, preservatives or high-fructose corn syrup. From Yola believes that every dish tells a story and every bite brings you closer to home.
It’s a family affair. Parents Yola Francis and Fouad Assi are in the kitchen chopping, mixing and cooking. Their son Joseph manages other aspects of the business along with his wife April Larson Assi. Both are also in the filmmaking industry, spending time in LA and raising their two-year-old son. Drew Call will probably be behind the counter to take your order. The team works together as shareholders.
The venture began as an online soup and sauce business that grew from a commissary kitchen. Now with a storefront and their own kitchen, the choices are expanding. From Yola specializes in tantalizing kabobs and wraps, crispy falafel, signature tahini, and handcrafted sauces. Savor healthful lentils, chickpeas, grains, and vegetables seasoned with garlic, lemon and spices. There is an assortment of flash-frozen entrees to heat at home. From Yola can also cater your event, whether it’s an intimate evening of a select few or a big celebration.
It is humbling to see Joseph’s energetic and loving self in action, under any circumstances. Yet is essential to understand he was born and then raised in a refugee camp for 23 years. From Yola is all about the food AND it is meant to be a sweet place to bring friends and gather. It’s true community. The day’s leftover food is distributed to those in need.
Change is afoot at From Yola. Soon you can experience the deliciousness of Lebanese beer and wine to enjoy on -e or take with you. A food processing license is underway to allow the items to be packaged and sold at drive-through coffee stands. Healthful dishes can be easy and tasty. Stop in or order online. https://www.fromyola.com/
